Our politicians in Washington D.C. are in the process of writing, amending, and trying to pass a bill that will give struggling businesses on Wall Street a $700,000,000,000 loan or bailout. Whatever you call it, bottom line is those companies made bad decisions and deserve to fail. If the local tanning bed or bar make bad business decisions and begin to fail the government doesn't bail them out. If the local bank collapses and people lose money no one from D.C. comes running with bags of money to save our small town banks. Why are these guys different? Because they are the uber wealthy? Can we not allow the rich to no longer be rich? Will we not let them fall to their own devices? This is nothing more than corporate welfare and is an abomination of the free market and a blatant attack on Capitalism.
We are the most technologically advanced country on earth and we still fill our fuel tanks with dinosaur bones. Why not pass a$700,000,000,000 energy bill?
With $700,000,000,000 our entire energy infrastructure could be re-designed. We could be energy independent in less than 10 years. The transition to renewable energy would create thousands of small businesses, millions upon millions of new jobs, and put revenue back into the system. We would have cleaner air, cleaner water, more money in our pockets, and we would no longer be dependent on foreign oil
Why is it that when Americans ask for a better education system, universal health insurance, or renewable energy and energy independence our government always says they don't have the money? But when rich people fail, make bad decisions, bad investments, and bad partnerships our politicians can come up with $700,000,000,000 to save their asses.
You wonna know why our government can run over us like this? Because we are all too lazy, too stupid, and too ignorant to do anything about it. 40 years ago our parents and grand parents would be marching on Washington demanding resignations, causing social distress, and rioting in the streets. Our generation barely even pays attention. We all keep our heads buried in Video Games, MTV, Myspace, and Facebook. We are to concerned with who got kicked off "Dancing With the Stars," and who's doing who on "The Hills."
Bottom line is Congress and Wall Street have not failed. Congress consists of elected officials. We elect those officials. We invest in those corporations. The American people are at fault. we are the ones who make bad decisions. The American people are the ones who must fix this problem. The final question is.. Will you step up and fix our government and our financial system or will you sit around and wait for someone else to do it for you? This is no longer America, this is a sad excuse for a socialist country.
